TAP - Buildings in life - 2026

Convivir is a nursing home in Ronda, Spain. The name means to live together, describing the project’s ambition: creating a shared home for elderly residents who can no longer manage independently at home, whether due to reduced mobility, cognitive decline, or the practical challenges of daily life.

This is a building about shared life. Individual living units are kept compact, freeing up space for shared areas that encourage everyday social interaction. The units are organized around a series of central courtyards, functioning as communal living rooms for the residents around them.

Daylight shapes the layout. For people who spend most of their time indoors, the ability to follow the shifting of light and weather, to remain connected to the rhythm of the day, carries particular importance. Both the living units and the shared areas are planned to ensure ample natural light throughout the day, with a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas.
