TAP - Buildings in life - 2026

Convivir is a nursing home in Ronda, Spain. The name means to live together, describing the project's ambition: creating a shared home for elderly residents who can no longer manage independently at home, whether due to reduced mobility, cognitive decline, or the practical challenges of daily life.

This is a building about shared life. Individual living units are kept compact, freeing up space for shared areas that encourage everyday social interaction. The units are organized around a series of central courtyards, functioning as communal living rooms for the residents around them.

Daylight shapes the layout. For people who spend most of their time indoors, the ability to follow the shifting of light and weather, to remain connected to the rhythm of the day, carries particular importance. Both the living units and the shared areas are planned to ensure ample natural light throughout the day, with a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas.

Studio Material Ecology - 2025

An existing cast-in-place office building is transformed into student housing. Concrete slabs are cut to open up generous double-height shared spaces, and the extracted pieces are reclaimed and reinstalled as a new facade system, embedding the building's own transformation into its exterior skin.

PINE, PEGS AND PRESSURE

Design and construction of room divider / shelves for the Lala Tøyen office.

Two vertical posts of solid pine stand between floor and ceiling, held in place by the compression of the space itself. Shelf boards rest on round wooden pegs, each one passed through a hole in the post and protruding on either side. No glue, no fasteners — the boards sit by gravity, the posts by tension.

120 HOURS - 2026

The Black-legged Kittiwake, once native to Norway's coastal cliffs, has increasingly begun nesting on the buildings and facades of Tromsø. The 120 Hours 2026 competition invited participants to design a kittiwake hotel — a dedicated nesting structure that treats the birds as legitimate urban inhabitants, rather than a nuisance to be removed.

A standard U-profile steel beam is the core element of the Blue Beam Project. Mounted on building facades and roofs across Tromsø, the beams provide much-needed nesting space for kittiwakes. Their vibrant blue color makes them instantly recognizable — to humans and birds alike. Outside the hatching season, the beams are gradually relocated and assembled into permanent mega-nest structures, giving the kittiwakes a new home in the city.

PENUMBRA: THE DAYLIGHT ATELIER

Studio Daylight - 2025

PENUMBRA, the zone of partial shadow between full darkness and full illumination, is both the organizing concept and the lived experience of this building. The project is structured as two distinct volumes, each defined by their specific luminous condition.

The base serves as a gallery space where controlled, minimal light creates precise atmospheric conditions for the display and contemplation of work. The upper volume houses an exhibition and educational space open to researchers, students, and practitioners for workshops, summer schools, and collaborative inquiry. Its apertures are positioned and sized across all orientations to achieve even daylight throughout. The facade is a continuous lattice grid spanning glazed and insulated panels alike, developed through material and daylight studies to filter and distribute light evenly across varying sky conditions.

Individual project

The project proposes a comprehensive transformation of Storgata 40, the former site of Oslo Emergency Clinic (Oslo Legevakt). The site comprises several distinct buildings of considerable historical breadth and a wide range of structural typologies. Through analysis of each building's load-bearing construction, individual transformation strategies are developed. Together they constitute a coherent block-scale intervention.

Rather than departing from a fixed spatial program and forcing it into the existing building stock, the project outlines how the existing structures can accommodate flexible communal spaces and housing wherever conditions are most suitable. Four existing buildings are addressed; Fattighuset (1859), Høyblokka (1959), Lavblokka (1959) and the ambulance building (1977).

The project further explores how the block can be densified and completed through new construction: an office lamella that screens and frames the courtyard, and a residential tower anchoring the northern end of the site.

Collaboration with Astrid Aune Tveita

Proposal for development of infill plot in Schübelersgate, Tøyen, Oslo. Community living, mixing apartments and family homes around an inner courtyard. The design of the buildings and their placement on the site prioritize optimal daylight conditions and foster a seamless integration between indoor and outdoor spaces, encouraging the communal use of shared areas with neighbours.

Concept design for neighborhood social hub at Vollebekk — set in the raw, unfinished ground floor of an existing new build, temporarily activating the space for cross-generational activity and community life.

COOPERATIVE FARM EXPANSION

Prestegårdshagene Community Farm is located in Telemark. The farm currently lacks adequate housing for agricultural interns and a suitable gathering space for shareholders to use during communal work gatherings.

This project proposes a minimal-footprint expansion on the south side of the existing farmhouse. The new building's footprint is carefully positioned on non-arable land, connecting existing footpaths around the farm in a linear intervention that forms a threshold between the cultivated farm area and the neighbouring properties.

SUMMER HOUSE SCALE MODEL

Langfeldt Wessel Arkitekter

2023

Langfeldt Wessel Arkitekter commissioned a scale model of their summer house project near the Oslo fjord. With design drawings already in hand, the task involved proposing scale, materials, and building the model. The house is a lightweight timber construction on a concrete base, set on uneven terrain. A 1:50 scale was chosen, with a cast concrete base representing the terrain and foundation, topped with an all-birchwood structure. The concrete formwork was digitally 3D-modelled from a laser scan of the actual plot and CNC-milled to accurately capture the steep terrain.
